Trance music: Maor Levi rulez!

23 comments so far

I just want to show you a trance music composer on MySpace called Maor Levi. This young boy, at seventeen, has composed one of the best trance tune (IMHO) out there: a track called SHAPES! You can enter into his MySpace page and listen up the tune for free. I don’t know exactly why the trance music isn’t so popular around the world, probably because it lacks on lyrics and sometimes it has “acid” sounds, like the hard trance. By the way, I love this genre of music, even the Vocal Trance which can be considered “commercial”. But … who cares? Ok, if you want waste a bit of time and follow my hint, make a trip into Digitally Imported Radio: an Internet website that stream electronic music (trance, house, techno, hardcore, etc…) for free. Attached in this post you can find a video of another cool trance tune, Deadmau5 - Arguru. Anyone out there love trance music as Enfis??? Please, let me know…

there’s someone else in Italy that loves Trance Music and listen it from a long time (mid 90’s, and this means that i’m over 35). Obviously and unfortunately Italy is not natural place to listen Trance, but hope that someday things may change! Meanwhile i suggest to start listening an (old) italian trance group like Nu Nrg. I’ll take a look to this blog often ’cause i’m a newby J2ME programmer.
    Greetings from Pescara!

its pretty sweet you know..i been listening to trance since tiesto, ppk and pvd made it big in the 90’s..i dont like tiesto’s style of music anymore though :(

but yeah trance is catching up in US..we have had above and beyond, thrillseekers, pvd, marcus schulz, etc play in Dallas…yeah freaking dallas lol..its not even anywhere close to being like any “trance destination”..
so you can imagine how its in places like Miami, NYC, LA, etc..its catchin up buddy

menno de jong, probspot, filo and peri, peri o’neil etc should come up with new stuff tho!

Here in Holland trance is quite massive and when I look at the fora, I think it is very much alive! So no Italy-things around here ;)

Maor Levi is a good producer, I personnaly like Reflect more. Currently Arnej and Dj Eco are doing nice stuff as well!

I’ve been listening to trance music since late ’90s, but just notice that it’s a distinct genre in around year 2001. Maor Levi is a name I just notice this year (2009), in anjunabeats, or in tiesto’s album, etc. I like the track titled “Reflect”. It is thick of trance feel, just like what I feel with ones of Above and Beyond’s. I think he’ll be one of the near future’s great producer, one of the top trance DJs of the world. A rare talent he is.

I don’t hear anything unusual about this track “shapes” it sounds pretty simple to me (structurally). Listen to these tracks and get back to me :)

In my opinion, a good track is when you can hear each instrument clearly and separated from all other instruments, and there would be an accent on one lead/instrument at a time. The tracks this guys makes just have long reverb + long delay -> heavy compression so he has alot to learn yet.

reading the other comments i know why i try to avoid the term ‘trance’ nowadays… what do tiesto and deadmau5 have in common except having a huge audience und becoming more commercial with every track they release, not to mention all the other dutch guys who play their stuff way to fast for my taste? ;) i’ll stick with hybridized.org and try not to think about any categorization when listening to shiloh, kilowatts and such ;)

  20. Posted by Aiki @ Techno Music 12th May, 2010 at 1:37 pm

I agree with nearmint about “trance” as a term, also the word techno now seems to be getting used as a generic term for every style of electronic music (everything from the chemcial brothers to deadmou5).

This makes it harder for real techno fans like myself to find the stuff we’re actually after.

i think trance is the best kind of music on earth specially the ambient trance….

  22. Posted by Trance Remix 20th November, 2010 at 9:43 pm

Cool track, plenty of good feedback too from the guys commenting on it. Not bad for a 17-yr old. I think anyone at any age still has a lot to learn. If you think you know it all then you need to expand your mind and music :)
